Sarah Bryan Design’s practice is deeply rooted in the exploration and transformation of discarded materials.
She seeks to challenge the conventional boundaries of ceramic artistry by integrating wasted materials, colour and texture that would otherwise be relegated to landfill.
Her work is an inquiry into the potential of these materials, incorporated across four distinct firing methods: raku, raku saggar, electric saggar, and electric.
She is open to working with you on commissions or collaborations. Please reach out using the link below.
Interior Installations
The launch of Burnt Hues is steered towards working on larger projects with interior designers and architects to deliver integrated artworks with unique stories behind them.
Clay is the most malleable material to work with, I’m yet to feel limited from its possibilities. Incorporating wasted materials is at the heart of Burnt Hues:
sourcing wasted materials to use as combustibles across multiple ceramic firing methods: key filings / oyster shells / packaging materials / factory floor off-cuts
bringing communities together to provide wasted materials to repurpose into artwork
using clay extracted from a ground-up construction site as a canvas for the work
