Providing a simple, low-tech irrigation method where the pot, unglazed inside and at the base, is buried in the soil to gradually release water to the plant's roots. The water flows through the porous terracotta walls due to soil moisture tension, ensuring a constant supply of water to the plant.
This piece, one of a pair, incorporates fired oyster shells, reduced to a fine powder, which is applied to the wet glaze surface. Waste oyster shells provided by the Wright Bros. restaurants in London.
Reactive glazes, sponsored by Mayco, combined with traces of the powdered oyster shells to provide a sensation of fluidity.
